Autauga County Metro Jail
The county's official Autauga Metro Jail history page describes the facility that replaced the county's 1970 jail and opened in May 2004.
The county describes Metro Jail as a 138-bed facility with 40 employees that houses both city and county inmates. That detail explains why a Prattville Police arrest can appear in a sheriff-operated Autauga County booking system rather than on a separate city jail page.
Metro Jail is at 136 North Court Street in Prattville and can be reached at 334-361-2600. The jail phone is the direct fallback for present custody when the web roster is down or behind. The research did not locate a published visitation vendor, visitor-identification rule, mail format, deposit vendor, phone vendor, unit assignment system, or release-lobby process. Those logistics should be checked with the jail, not guessed from a booking page.
Booking Logs and Recent Arrests
A roster is a short view of custody, not a complete Autauga County arrest archive. The former sheriff interface offered Current and Released views, but its exact historical reach was not published. An entry may leave the current view after release. A recent event may also be missing while the site is under maintenance. Absence from the list does not prove that no arrest occurred. Jail remediation created an unusual search issue for Autauga County bookings from 2024 through early 2026. The County Commission sought cleaning and remediation proposals in July 2024 after the sheriff evacuated inmates over moisture, mold, and health concerns. County and news reports documented a long closure and disagreement over reopening, even as renovation neared completion.
Court records identified Blount, Cullman, Lowndes, and Russell Counties as temporary housing locations. A person could therefore have an Autauga County charge while being physically held elsewhere. When an older booking-era search fails, give Metro Jail the approximate arrest date and ask whether temporary housing affected the custody trail. Then contact the relevant temporary county only when Autauga officials identify it. The prosecution still belongs in the proper Autauga County court even if another jail supplied the bed.
